Developing Effective Cancer Vaccines Using Rendered-Inactive Tumor Cells

چکیده
Cancer is a major public health threat, and researchers are constantly looking for new ways to develop effective treatments. One approach the use of cancer vaccines, which work by boosting body’s immune system fight cancer. The goal this study was an vaccine using rendered-inactive tumor cells. A CMS5 fibrosarcoma model in BALB/c mice E.G7 lymphoma C57BL/6 were used evaluate how mitomycin C-inactivated cells mediated protection. results showed that immunization with inactivated significantly improved suppression after challenge live cells, but no effect observed model. suggested DC (dendritic cell) responses antigens critical. maturation activation DCs effectively promoted C-treated as well enhanced phagocytosis ability vitro. tumor-protective effects established vaccination CD8+ T cell-dependent, antitumor disappeared eliminating It found tumor-prevention efficacy dramatically increased combining CM55 anti-CD25 antibodies temporarily deplete Treg (regulatory cells). This strategy could also induce rejection against tumors. In addition, plus elicited heterologous According findings study, antibody may be method prevention.

DNA Vaccines: Developing New Strategies against Cancer
Due to their rapid and widespread development, DNA vaccines have entered into a variety of human clinical trials for vaccines against various diseases including cancer. Evidence that DNA vaccines are well tolerated and have an excellent safety profile proved to be of advantage as many clinical trials combines the first phase with the second, saving both time and money. It is clear from the resu...
متن کاملAntibodies designed as effective cancer vaccines.
Antigen/antibody complexes can efficiently target antigen presenting cells to allow stimulation of the cellular immune response. Due to the difficulty of manufacture and their inherent instability complexes have proved inefficient cancer vaccines. However, anti-idiotypic antibodies mimicking antigens have been shown to stimulate both antibody and T cell responses. The latter are due to T cell m...
متن کاملBiological challenges to effective vaccines in the developing world.
The reason for holding a meeting to discuss biological challenges to vaccines is simple: not all vaccines work equally well in all settings. This special issue reviews the performance of vaccines in challenging environments, summarizes current thinking on the reasons why vaccines underperform and considers what approaches are necessary to understand the heterogeneity in responses and to improve...
متن کاملCancer vaccines: the challenge of developing an ideal tumor killing system.
Despite the evidence that the immune system plays a significant role in controlling tumor growth in natural conditions and in response to therapeutic vaccination, cancer cells can survive their attack as the disease progresses and no vaccination regimen should be currently proposed to patients outside experimental clinical trials. Clinical results show that the immune system can be actively pol...
متن کاملDendritic-Tumor Fusion Cell-Based Cancer Vaccines
Dendritic cells (DCs) are potent antigen-presenting cells (APCs) that play a critical role in the induction of antitumor immunity. Therefore, various strategies have been developed to deliver tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) to DCs as cancer vaccines. The fusion of DCs and whole tumor cells to generate DC-tumor fusion cells (DC-tumor FCs) is an alternative strategy to treat cancer patients. The...
